Program ‖Disaster Prevention and Reduction Engineering
This new specialty is a cross combination of civil engineering,
hydraulic engineering, earthquake engineering, environmental engineering,
information engineering and science of the earth. It has very important
meanings for our human society in realizing sustainable development.
The specialty was built with a characteristic integration of theory
with practice. It participates actively in solving actual national
and regional engineering problems while lunching basic researches.
I. Training Objectives
Graduate master degree candidates should have solid basic knowledge
of disaster prevention and reduction engineering, and know quite well
about the research results and the developing direction of various
respects of the specialty. They have the ability of making specialized
research and solving practical problems independently, and can consult
the specialized books and periodicals of this specialty in foreign
language as well as write the thesis summary.
II. Main Research Directions
1. Seismic resistance and reduction in civil engineering
2. Engineering geological disaster and its prevention
3. Engineering structure testing and reinforce technology of disaster
prevention.
4. Soil dynamics and improvement
5. Integrated disaster prevention of city and coast
III. Length of Schooling and Credits
The full-time master degree candidates’ length of schooling is 2.
5 years. The total credits must get requested 32 credits at least;
among them the credits of degree lessons must get requested 19 and
all the required engineering or social practice should be finished.
Semi-sabbatical master degree candidates’ period of schooling can
be prolonged for another half a year or one year as approved.
