1981NAOE was accredited to confer doctorate degrees in Design and Manufacture of Ship and Ocean Structure, Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering Structural Mechanics and Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering Fluid Mechanics Master degrees in fluid mechanics, solid mechanics and general mechanics and doctoral degree in solid mechanics were accredited
1978In order to meet the demands for ocean resource exploitation, Department of Naval Architecture was expanded and renamed as Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering (NAOE) and restored to recruit postgraduates pursuing Master degrees The department of Engineering Mechanics was restored
1977Department of Ship Building was renamed as Department of Naval Architecture according to the discipline list issued by National Higher Education Council
1962Department of Engineering Mechanics was merged into Department of Naval Architecture
1958Department of Engineering Mechanics was founded
1957Shanghai Naval Architecture College was merged into JTU Shanghai Campus, but the organizational system in the departments remained the same
1956Shanghai Naval Architecture College was founded on the original site of JTU based on the departments of JTU and Dalian Institute of Technology, and Naval Architecture Department was split into Ship Building Department and Marine Engine Department
1955The department was accredited to confer master degrees
1952Department of Civil Engineering from JTU was merged into Tong Ji University During the nationwide reshuffling, Ship Building Departments/divisions from Tong Ji University, Wuhan College of Communications and Shanghai Industrial Technological Academy were merged into JTU and established Ship Building Department
1951Department of Civil Engineering from Fu Dan University was merged into JTU Department of Naval Architecture was merged into Department of Marine Engineering
1943Jiao Tong University took over the Ship Building Section from Chong Qing National Merchant Marine College and established Department of Naval Architecture, which began to recruit students in the same year
1929Shanghai Campus reinstated the discipline and named it as School of Civil Engineering and later split into two departments in Shanghai and Chong Qing during the period of Anti-Japanese War
1920The academy of Civil Engineering was merged into JTU Tang Shan Campus
1913The academy in Railway Engineering was renamed as the academy of Civil Engineering
1907JTU established the academy in Railway Engineering
